Acanthamoeba keratitis is an infection of the cornea caused by free-living amoebae of the genus Acanthamoeba. Acanthamoeba infections are more common during the summer season because they can be found in fresh water. Contact lens wearers are particularly at risk due to contaminants in the water, improper storage, or improper lens disinfection.
For early treatment of an infection, we offer the IVD-certified ParoReal® Kit Acanthamoeba T4 (IVD), a real-time PCR detection kit for rapid and highly sensitive identification of Acanthamoeba.
