Background:  Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative bacterium found widely in the environment, such as in soil, water, and plants. It causes a wide range of opportunistic infections such as wound infections, mastitis, pneumoniae, otitis, etc.

Description:  BactoReal® Kit Pseudomonas aeruginosa uses real-time PCR for the detection of the 16S rRNA gene of P. aeruginosa. Our carefully designed primers and probe ensure highest sensitivity and specificity. The kit consists of an assay mix for the detection of the pathogen as well as a positive control and an internal positive control (IPC). To minimize PCR cross-contamination,the reaction mix included contains dUTP and uracil-N glycosylase (UNG).

Frequently Asked Questions:

The kit amplifies the 16S rRNA gene, with detection in the FAM fluorescence channel.
P. aeruginosa is a WHO-priority pathogen due to its intrinsic resistance and ability to cause acute and chronic infections in animals and humans.
P. aeruginosa DNA is detected in the FAM channel, while the IPC is detected in the Cy5 channel.
Positive and negative controls together with the IPC guarantee valid and reproducible results.
The kit is highly specific but may rarely cross-react with Pseudomonas protegens, P. otitidis, P. fluorescens, or P. tropicalis.
BactoReal® , MycoReal® , ParoReal ® and ViroReal® Kits run with the same thermal cycling conditions.
