Background:  Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is a primary pathogen of respiratory disease in pigs. This bacterium is one of the most important causative agents of the enzootic pneumonia (EP) and of the porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC). This chronic disease complex causes substantial economic losses.

Description:  BactoReal® Kit Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is a real-time PCR for the qualitative detection of the rpoB gene of M. hyopneumoniae. Our carefully designed primers and probe ensure highest sensitivity and specificity. The kit consists of an assay mix for the detection of the pathogen as well as a positive control and an internal positive control (IPC) system. To minimize PCR cross-contamination, the included reaction mix contains dUTP and uracil-N glycosylase (UNG).

PCR platforms: BactoReal® Kit Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae was validated with the ABI® 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR System (fast cycle parameters are not supported, Thermo Fisher Scientific), and was also tested with Mx3005P® (Agilent), qTOWER3G (Analytik Jena), MIC instrument (bio molecular systems), LightCycler® 480 II (Roche) and cobas Z 480 Analyzer (Roche). It is also compatible with other real-time PCR instruments which detect and differentiate fluorescence in the FAM and Cy5 channel (e.g. QuantStudio™ 5 / 6 / 7 (Thermo Fisher Scientific)).

Assay: Optional - this product is also available as an assay-only format with primers, probe and a positive control, but without reaction mix.

The kit enables molecular detection of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae DNA by targeting the rpoB gene using real-time PCR, supporting diagnosis of porcine respiratory disease.
M. hyopneumoniae is a primary pathogen of enzootic pneumonia in pigs and a major contributor to the porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC), causing economic losses in pig production.
Validated samples include DNA extracts from lung biopsies and bronchoalveolar lavage from pigs.
An internal DNA positive control (IPC), added during sample extraction and detected in the Cy5 channel, ensures extraction efficiency and detects possible PCR inhibition.
The analytical sensitivity is 10 target copies per reaction, with a limit of detection (LoD95%) of 37 copies per reaction. Validation confirmed no cross-reactivity with related bacteria.
