Background:  Cryptosporidium parvum is one of several protozoal species that cause cryptosporidiosis, a parasitic disease of the mammalian intestinal tract. It is a zoonotic and obligate intracellular parasite. Primary symptoms of C. parvum infection are acute, watery, and non-bloody diarrhea. Extra-intestinal sites include the lung, liver and gall bladder where it causes respiratory cryptosporidosis, hepatitis and cholecystitis. Infection is caused by ingestion of sporulated oocysts transmitted by the faecal-oral route.

Description:  ParoReal® Kit Cryptosporidium parvum uses real-time PCR for the detection of the GP60 gene of Cryptosporidium parvum. Our carefully designed primers and probe ensure highest sensitivity and specificity. The kit consists of an assay mix for the detection of the pathogen as well as a positive control and an internal positive control (IPC). To minimize PCR cross-contamination,the reaction mix included contains dUTP and uracil-N glycosylase (UNG).

Frequently Asked Questions:

It detects DNA of Cryptosporidium parvum by targeting the GP60 gene using real-time PCR.
The assay is validated for DNA extracted from stool samples.
The IPC checks for DNA extraction quality and PCR inhibition and is detected in the Cy5 channel.
The assay detects at least 10 DNA target copies per PCR reaction and is linear across 100–1,000,000 copies.
The assay includes detection reagents only; the kit contains all reagents including PCR mix and water.
BactoReal® , MycoReal® , ParoReal ® and ViroReal® Kits run with the same thermal cycling conditions.
